Blood Drives

Outreach – Giving a gift of Life…

St. Leon Spring & Autumn Blood Drives

YOUR PINT OF YOUR BLOOD IS VERY IMPORTANT!  HELP others who are in dire need and have no other options. It is your gift of life.

Every two seconds someone needs blood. More than 1.6 million people in the USA were diagnosed with cancer last year. Many of them will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatments.  Blood donations often make the difference between life and death for babies in neo in neonatal units.

For almost two decades the St. Leon parish holds two blood drives a year, in Spring and Autumn. Dates are announced in the Sunday Bulletin, Lradoo, and on our website. We always select a Sunday morning from 9 AM to 1 PM.  Anyone between 18 years old (w/ parental permission) - 72 years of age is eligible to donate.

A pint of blood is drawn and kept in coolers on the Blood Mobile until it is taken to the Center where it is tested and stored.  Within 24 hours, blood is available to be shipped to hospitals.

Tips for Donors: Hydrate – drink an extra 16 ounces of liquid before and after your donation. Eat a healthy meal before your donation and avoid foods high in fat just prior to donation.

Remember to bring your ID! If you take medications, it is a good idea to bring a list of current medications.

Watch our website calendar and weekly bulletins for upcoming blood drives.

Join St. Leon parish in giving a gift of life.
